September is PCOS Awareness Month
September is Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) Awareness Month. Many women have this condition and experience issues becoming pregnant and other issues such as difficulty loosing weight and abnormal hair growth. Dr. Mersol-Barg has written a wonderful piece within our website explaining PCOS and how it can affect female fertility (click here to access).
We help many women conceive who have this condition. It is not always the easiest condition to diagnose, and can be over looked by many physicians searching for a reason a woman is having trouble becoming pregnant. Managing this condition can include a variety of approaches including a low carbohydrate high protein diet, exercise regimen, and various medicinal therapies depending if the woman is trying to become pregnant or if she is not seeking pregnancy but is trying to manage the other side effects of PCOS.
Our practice helps women with PCOS on a daily basis. Our dietician is very familiar with the diet that is most effective with PCOS and our physicians are wonderful managing this complex metabolic condition. Please call and schedule a consultation if you would like a PCOS assessment or treatment for PCOS.
